Graham Greene - The Quiet American
Graham Greene's novel "The Quiet American" (1955) is the beginning of a new period in the author's work. It is written based on the author's personal impressions. He lived in Vietnam for several years, when the people of that country were waging a war of national liberation against the French colonialists. "Peaceful American" is a versatile work. There are elements of an adventure novel, a psychological drama, a military reportage, erotic pages and a sharp political pamphlet. However, all of them are organically combined with great skill.
