Carmen Laforet - Nothing (Nada)
In the post-war period, young Andrea with great illusions and dreams arrives in Barcelona to her grandmother's house, to study and start a new life, where, alas, those dreams and illusions are shattered carelessly, because in that house there is only hunger, violence and hatred. In the dark, dirty, smelly, oppressive and suffocating atmosphere created in the novel, when one of the characters is asked what happened, what is happening, or what he feels, the latter answers: "Nothing." Carmen Laforet is ahead of her time with her intimate and photographic prose, wonderfully depicting the Barcelona of the given period.
